Two Die In Fatal Accident In Kubwa.

A midnight accident along the Kubwa Expressway on Wednesday claimed the lives of two unidentified young men.

The incident which involved a black Prado Jeep with registration number HM 605 ABC and a trailer occurred when the Jeep rammed into the moving trailer. The two occupants of the jeep died on the spot. ...

Eyewitnesses said the driver of the jeep was on high speed when he got close to the trailer but could not control the vehicle before the car rammed into the trailer.

Shortly after the accident operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps came to the scene to evacuate the remains of the victims to the mortuary as well as clear the road of the relics of the jeep and it took a long time before the driver’s body could be freed from the wreckage of the jeep as he was trapped.

Many of the witnesses blamed the driver of the jeep for what they termed “embarking on a suicide mission through over-speeding”, saying the driver would not claim that he did not notice the moving trailer since the highway lights were on and the road in very good condition. They averred that he could have been drunk and perhaps, sleeping on the wheel.

LEADERSHIP reports that while the trailer was not scratched, the jeep was a complete write-off. In a related development, the lone driver of a Peugeot 306 with registration number BK 372 BWR got to the scene of the fatal accident and rammed into the wrecked jeep. The driver, who sauntered out of the car unhurt, however had the front side of his car terribly battered.
