Kidnappers have seized the sister-in-law to a former senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Annie Okonkwo.
Although details were sketchy as at press time, it was gathered
Wednesday that she was abducted on her way home from her sister's house
in Ikoyi.
She was however lucky as she was released the next day.

According to reports, the victim, who was in company with her three
children, was heading to her house in FESTAC Town after attending a
birthday party in her sister's home in Ikoyi last Sunday when she was
abducted.
The family became worried when report reached them that she did not
show up at home that night, prompting them to report the incident at the
nearest police station.
What further heightened their panic was the fact that the vehicle she rode in was found parked a few metres from where she was abducted.

However, by Monday, THISDAY gathered that the victim was released after
a ransom of N1 million was paid to the kidnappers.

Although the state Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, a
Deputy Superintendent of Police, confirmed the kidnapping and the
subsequent release, she could not immediately confirm if any ransom was
paid.
A call put across to the senator's aide, simply identified as Mr.
Collins, was not answered neither did he reply the text message sent to
his phone.
